HomeBlogTsukimi (Full Moon-Viewing)
September 21st was Mid-Autumn Festival (Jugoya).
Did you see the beautiful full moon?
Many of us think that the moon that we see on the Mid-Autumn Festival is always at the full. However, this is not true.
What we see on the day is “a little waning” moon most of the time.
But because of moon cycle, this year we could see the full moon for the first time in 8 years!
“Tsukimi”(月見) literally means to enjoy viewing the moon.
By the way, Tsukimi Udon, Tsukimi Soba, Tsukimi Burger, Tsukimi Tororo Udon…
Have you ever seen any of these menus at a restaurant?
What does Tsukimi mean?
The answer is “egg”.
We often compare yolk to the full moon in Japan.
It is very interesting, isn’t it?
