National Foundation Day, celebrated on February 11th, is the birthday of Japan. This holiday originally called “紀元節”(Kigensetsu) is when the first emperor of Japan, “神武”(Jimmu) ascended the throne. The books of classical Japanese history such as “古事記”(Kojiki) and “日本書紀”(Nihonshoki) refer to his enthronement, but it is merely a myth.
