“The Emperor’s Birthday” (February 23rd) is a national holiday celebrated on the birthday of the reigning emperor.
He ascended the throne after the previous emperor’s abdication on 30th April 2019.
Because of this, the Heisei era ended, and the Reiwa era began.
In 2020, “the Emperor’s Birthday” was moved to February 23rd from December 23rd, which is the previous emperor’s birthday.
